Islander Nation welcomes Ed Slezinger as our new Head Coach

"Coach Ed Slezinger joins Mercer Island High School as our new football Head Coach with better than 20 years of coaching experience. Some of you may remember Coach Slezinger from his time coaching with MIBGC youth football and baseball programs.

Coach Slezinger returns to Mercer Island after serving as Offensive and Defensive Coordinator with Redwood High School in Larkspur, CA for the last 4 seasons. During his tenure with Redwood, he helped to improve player participation, and turn the program from a 1-9 record to back to back playoff contender.

Coach Slezinger focuses on developing student-athletes as players of high character and promotes competition, sportsmanship, and leadership to prepare our student-athletes for life in and outside of high school.

He is excited about getting started, meeting with returning players and re-engaging players that may have left the program. Coach Slezinger is motivated to bring new players to a program that is focused on developing champions, creating a winning environment and having fun while working hard."
