It takes constant and consistent effort to keep high GPA’s, develop talents and balance the demands of a challenging practice and season schedule each semester in order to achieve both academic and athletic excellence. We recognize that effort and commitment and want to celebrate our student-athletes for their accomplishments.
Here we will celebrate the student-athletes committed to both academic and athletic excellence. The academic success of our student-athletes is a tribute to our coaches, counselors, academic support staff and the student-athletes themselves. I believe that the Islanders demonstrate the best of academic effort, however as in sport, we can always improve and push ourselves for more. Our student-athletes are competitive in all facets of their academic careers and will continue to strive to be great. Here we will recognize those who are achieving on and off the field, and who are demonstrating the excellence that we strive for as a program.
If you would like to share an accomplishment, upcoming event, academic award or highlight a special talent, please send an email to: email@example.com and type "Coach's Classroom" in the subject line. Photos and videos are welcomed.

Mercer Island Reporter:
Senior - Mark Mangino
Mark Mangino recently achieved Boy Scout’s highest rank of Eagle. Becoming an Eagle starts when a boy enters Boy Scouts at age 11 and continues often until just before his 18th birthday. It means mastering many life skills and being able to organize and carry out a significant project (Mark’s was with the City of Mercer Island). Mercer Island Troops can be proud of their Eagle Scouts as they are often leaders in all their activities, not just Scouts and they are well set up to perform at a high level in life after high school.
Two of his troop-mates, Henry Weiker (#8) and Connor Hanson (#26) are also Eagle’s from Troop 457.
