Greater Eastside Junior Football Association

MISSION STATEMENT

Provide a positive and enjoyable experience for all participants; help to build positive self-esteem for players; teach team participation and responsibility; teach participants to respect and honor opponents and all other participants (coaches, officials, parents); teach sportsmanship and fair play; teach football skills in an environment where players compete with other players of comparable age and weight; and teach all participants how to win, how to lose, and how to do both with dignity.

The Greater Eastside Junior Football Association (GEJFA) was formed by the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club in 1963 to provide contact football in a program that respects the Boys and Girls Club philosophy. GEJFA serves all youth between the ages of 8 and 14. There are five levels of play based on an age/weight formula to ensure that players compete against players of like size and age. The levels are Rookie, Cub, Sophomore, Junior Varsity and, Varsity. There are seventeen franchise Clubs that comprise the GEJFA, representing the youth of the Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Issaquah, East Renton, and Newcastle. Each Club has geographical boundaries, which in most cases, are the same or similar to the local high school. The GEJFA junior football program is unique in its high number of participants and rules to ensure the equitable playing time for all players.
